My dear friends & well-wishers of Sri Subramanya Charitable Trust,
Greetings and God bless all of you along with your near and dear. In a world where ego, jealousy, misplaced pride and selfishness rule, choosing the path of righteousness isn't easy — but when chosen right, it takes you to a higher plane where you see everyone's good and nothing else. Our underlining motto of “Sewa Parmo Dharma,” leading to our ultimate goal of “Sarve Jana Sukhino Bhavanthu,” became our only motivation for all our actions.
Started in February 2006, we have been fortunate to assist many youngsters in achieving their life-goals in academics, sports and cultural interests across towns, villages and neighbourhoods around Ayikudy in Tenkasi district, southern Tamil Nadu. You all have made this possible — we at SSCT are just a conduit to make your good intentions and contributions work towards the betterment of one village at a time.
From the start, we have been clear that the Trust's thrust areas would be educational support; the study of languages such as Tamil, Hindi and English; generating interest in sport and the fine arts among tomorrow's pillars of India; women's welfare through employability-focused upliftment; and facilities and nutritious food for the elderly.
As with any growing organisation, we had our teething problems, a few noteworthy successes, and some failures that led to significant learning and course corrections. With many years behind us, we are better focused and more capable, with a resolve to impact lives and livelihoods not just around Ayikudy but also in Tuticorin and Balamarthandapuram through our focused community programmes — Samoogham and Adithalam.
Being media-shy and not so promotion-savvy, we believed in laying low and doing our duty. But in today's day and age we are convinced, like all traditional organisations, to embrace change — hence this website — to reach new benefactors who believe in our cause. You, along with the community, are the sole reason behind all our successes.
I appeal to each one of you, our patrons, to continue to encourage us and give us the strength to walk that extra mile — for more programmes, better delivery of our services, and more neighbourhoods to reach. We seek your blessings, as we derive our energy from you. Thank you.
